FINS Grill’s shrimp tacos are worth a wait, and Grumbles’ homemade tartar sauce deserves a fan club. But this list also covers breakfast tacos at Coach’s and a flawless lamb burger at BierHaus.

One rule applies at every stop: bring your appetite. Here’s where to eat.

Worth the 30-minute wait
Ryan’s service was superb
Shrimp tacos were bomb
Seafood dishes truly delicious
Ferry lot parking adventure

We rolled in after a 30-minute wait, and honestly, I’d do it again. Ryan was superb, keeping drinks full and jokes flowing. The shrimp tacos were bomb—crispy, spicy, and loaded. Seafood dishes across the board were truly delicious, from grilled tilapia to fried shrimp. Parking was an adventure in the ferry lot, but that’s part of the charm. If you can handle the wait, you’re in for a treat. Short wait, longer payoff. Solid pick in Port A.

Grumbles is the real deal for Gulf seafood. The fish tasted like it jumped out of the water that morning. Waterfront views made every bite better. The homemade tartar sauce? Standout. It’s tangy and creamy, the perfect partner for their crispy fries—seasoned just right. Service was friendly, and the menu is kid-friendly, which saved our table. We watched boats bob while eating. Fresh, simple, and satisfying. That’s my kind of lunch. Come hungry. Leave happy. No complaints.

Excellent drinks, too, with a solid local beer list. The dining room is clean and spacious, perfect for a family or a date. Staff? Lifesaving, literally. Our server noticed my friend’s allergy before we even mentioned it. That’s attention. Comfortable, classy, but not stuffy. Highly recommend.

Tortuga’s has a menu that shines. The shrimp and grits? Absolute perfection—creamy, spicy, and rich. But the crab cake eggs Benedict is the real star. Poached eggs, lump crab, hollandaise. Yes, please. Service was friendly and efficient; we never waited for a refill. Food was fresh, filling, and delicious. The wheelchair ramp made it easy for my dad. That’s a thoughtful touch. We rolled in for brunch and stayed for hours. This place knows how to do breakfast right.

Fish that earns five stars

MacDaddy’s is a carnivore’s dream with a seafood twist. The smoked wings are then fried—genius. Crispy skin, smoky flavor. Brisket and ribs were tender, falling off the bone. Massive portions meant we had two-day meals. BBQ nachos with pulled pork? Loaded and glorious. The fish was also great, surprisingly. It’s messy, unpretentious, and exactly what you want after a beach day. Cheap compared to fast food, but way better. Bring a bib. Trust me. We left stuffed and smiling.

Trout Street has the best view in town. The harbor is right there, bouncing with boats. Fresh, tasty seafood—the catch of the day was flaky and light. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable; our waiter recommended the snapper, and he was spot on. Quick service, even when crowded. Fair prices, big portions. We shared a platter and still had leftovers. Pair it with the sunset. It’s a simple formula, but they nail it. I’d come back just for the ambiance. Great value.

I will return, no question. It’s the kind of spot that feels like your local. Coffee stayed hot, too. That’s a win. Simple, hearty, and full of charm.

Port A Beachlodge lives up to its name. Laid-back beachfront atmosphere, right on the sand. Cold drinks flowed freely, and the service was great—everyone knew what we needed before we asked. The restaurant is revamped and clean, with a modern coastal vibe. Solid, no-fuss seafood options: fried baskets, grilled tacos, and a killer shrimp poboy. It’s a favorite stop for us every trip. We watched the waves while eating. That’s the life. Unpretentious, relaxing, and delicious. Can’t ask for more.

Great for kids—not too spicy, just sweet and bright. It added a nice kick to the tacos. Clean tables, quick refills. We grabbed a loaf of bread on the way out. Simple food done right. If you’re in the area, stop by. You won’t regret the detour.

Roosevelt’s 1886 Bar is my new favorite. The meals were easily the best I’ve had in Port Aransas. Service is impeccable—Lauren made the whole night. She remembered our order, cracked jokes, and kept the drinks coming. Cocktails were crafted flawlessly, especially the margarita. The atmosphere is historic but lively. Worth every return visit, and believe me, I’ll be back. It’s a bar, but the food punches way above its weight. Don’t skip dessert. Just don’t.
